On May 1, 1932, Eduard Gehr started a cellulose company in Mannheim, producing celluloid protective door covers, skimmers, and water flow regulators.

The company moved to Neckarau Street in 1936 and the first employees were hired that year, after which the company saw the hiring of three more employees. In 1939, seven more employees were added to the company. In 1943, a mechanical workshop was destroyed during World War II.

In 1946, the company resumed its activities and in addition to the mentioned products, it started to produce various types of tie holders, and in addition, it can be said that the company’s founding son, Werner Gehr, joined the company. In 1950, the father and son founded a partnership called OHR. In 1954, two rosaries were purchased for the company, and production of various polyvinyl chloride pipes and soft rail handles made from this material began. In 1955, the production of refill tubes using polyvinyl chloride and rigid knitting handles began. The company moved to its current location in Mannheim, Chesterfield, in 1956. In 1967, Schwan STABILO produced hexagonal polyvinyl chloride pipes and sidewalk divider lines. In addition, several strong pipes are made of polyvinyl chloride up to 70 mm in diameter. In 1975, the company produced solid polyvinyl chloride pipes with a diameter of 300 mm, and in 1976, the company was renamed Gehr Plastic. Irene Andreas left the company in 1979, and in 1989 the Gehr Plastics Company was founded in Chicago, USA. In 1985, rods were made from polyvinylidene chloride, polyethylene, and polypropylene. 1987 saw the production of polyvinyl chloride foam tubes for Schwan STABILO beauty products. In 1997, the company’s name was changed to GEHR Kunststoffwerk GmbH & Co.KG, and in the same year, 400 mm diameter polyvinyl chloride pollen rods were produced. Awarded in the United States. In 2000, Gehr Plastics moved to Pennsylvania in the United States, and in 2003, solid sheets and rods were made of polyoxymethylene.

In 2004, a representative office was established in Shanghai, China, and various types of ground rods up to 400 mm are made of polyoxymethylene. In 2015, various types of polyoxymethylene rods with a diameter of 600 mm will be produced, and in 2016, special types of 3D printing filaments will be manufactured by the mentioned company, and in addition, an OHSAS management certificate related to work safety will be awarded to this company.
